Chris Hingley at lunch
On 3rd May during the sung Eucharist, the Reverend Christopher Hingley took part in a question and answer session with the Rector Maurice Houston. He described the reality of life in Zimbabwe, the hardships, and the uncertain future. Christopher Hingley spoke movingly of the population’s interest in education, and the value they put on it. He is Rector of two Petra Schools in Bulawayo. Pupils are from all family backgrounds, from the poorest to those whose families are a little better off. All pupils receive an education of the highest quality, and obtain qualifications which enable them to gain employment, or admission to university or college. Christopher Hingley was later invited to preach the sermon.
Following the service a congregational lunch was held in the Trinity Centre. It was organised by the social committee, and attended by over fifty people. Everyone enjoyed baked potatoes with a delicious variety of fillings, a glass of wine, and finished with tea/coffee and tasty home baking.
This event allowed church members to speak on a one to one basis with Christopher, and take the opportunity of watching a short DVD about Petra Schools.
