Trip to Iona

time for another break

We travelled by minibus to catch a ferry at Oban, drive across Mull then another ferry to Iona.  We stayed in the comfortable Episcopal retreat - Bishop’s House.  It was quite a full week and although the weather was changeable (rain, wind, sunshine - alternating rapidly) we had lots to do: walks across the Machar, a bird-watching trip led by David Parkinson, a boat trip to Staffa to visit Fingal’s Cave .. and all in the setting of this spectacular and holy island.  As well as our own worship in the beautiful chapel in Bishop’s House we attended services in the Abbey - noteably a healing service and a large family eucharist.

Of course there were shops to visit and coffees to be drunk as well.

It was good to have time to spend a few days getting to know some members of the congergation a bit better.

I think we enjoyed the company and all had a good time.
