Enjoying the buffet after David's ordination
On the evening of Sunday 23rd August, Holy Trinity Melrose was the setting for the ordination to the priesthood of Holy Trinity member David Dalglish. Despite the inclement weather, over 200 people gathered to celebrate this event. In attendance were over 20 clergy from near and far, David and Barbara’s family and friends, members of Holy Trinity and other Border churches.
All had come to witness and take part in this special occasion. The Revd. Michael Paterson, David’s mentor preached the sermon, and the ordination was carried out by the Rt. Revd. Brian Smith, Bishop of Edinburgh. All the hymns were rousingly sung by the large congregation. It is believed that this is the very first ordination to have taken place in Holy Trinity.
Following the service there was a delightful reception held in a marquee in the church grounds, when fellowship, drinks, and a buffet with innumerable ‘goodies’ were enjoyed by everyone.
It was a most memorable occasion, and one which will long remain in the memory of all those attending.
