Good start to kids’ breakfast

dozen kids standing around

and a good time was had by all.

The kids’ Breakfast began well in 2012 with a good hot breakfast - provided by the parents - and discussion about the bible.  We plan to meet every second Sunday at 9.30 and to talk about how we read the bible and its relevance for us today.  After a quiz on what the bible is made up of, we discussed what it says about issues of wealth - how God might want us to prosper, poverty and our obligations to people who are less well off and the problem of debt.  Talking about the number of people in debt here and abroad, we focused on two topics: the Lord’s Prayer - ‘forgive us our debts as we forgive ...‘ and on the Year of Jubilee.  We talked not only about campaigns like Drop the debt but on the difference that cancelling debts can make to people and countries in distress - and on the hazards.  In the spirit of generosity, at least one of the quiz winners handed out some of her prize chocolates.
