Sidespeople
The sidesmen and women are the first point of contact for visitors and congregation on a Sunday morning. They are at the door to welcome, to hand out hymn books and service books, and to assist with seating.
Sidespeople take up the collection during the service and also the bread and wine for Communion, and close the communion rail. They may ring the bell prior to the service. During Communion, they stand at the Chancel steps to assist any member of the congregation who has difficulty with mobility.
